Tribute & Message From The Family

Thank you all for coming here today to pay your last respects and to help celebrate the memories of Sai Kan Yeung Wong. Sai Kan Yeung Wong was born on March 26, 1939 in Hong Kong. She was from humble beginnings. A family of four girls, she was the eldest, who took on the responsibility of taking care of her younger siblings. As a teenager, she worked at the family business selling preserved seafood, especially salted fish.

Sai Kan Yeung Wong and Chew Sang Wong were introduced and later married in August 1956. They have a son and a daughter, Wilson and Shirley. Together, she and her husband opened two restaurants. Later on she worked as a waitress at a Chinese-American Cafe in the Mission District, before she honed on to her cooking skills at Yet Wah Restaurant that spanned the course of 30 years. In conjunction, she also worked as a food server at various San Francisco Unified Schools for several years, until retirement in 1998 to enjoy her time by taking care of her grandchildren. Her other passions included traveling and water aerobics. She pretty much traveled the entire world from Europe to Asia.

Sai Kan Yeung Wong was a survivor of two cancer surgeries, but the head trauma she sustained last year was too much to overcome. She passed away on March 7, 2015. Mom had a good life with us; we will always keep her memories in our heart.

The Comfort and Sweetness of Peace
After the clouds, the sunshine,
After the winter, the spring,
After the shower, the rainbow,
For life is a changeable thing.
After the night, the morning,
Bidding all darkness cease,
After life's cares and sorrows,
the comfort and sweetness of peace.
